Fiercely local. Joyfully global.

In 1998, we began collaborating with a few communities in the Peruvian Amazon, training women, helping build fish farms, and providing resources for climate resilience.

Today, we still do all those things, and much more, within the communities. And in the last 25 years, that work has sparked positive change around the world.

What started in the heart of Peru is now rippling outward as far as Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Africa…

…and the list keeps growing!

In 2022, Minga presented at the opening session of the International Social and Behavior Change Communication Summit in Morocco, which was attended by over 130 countries.

As the keynote speaker, Eliana Elias shared powerful stories and lessons learned of how communication plays a central role in promoting people-led social and behavior change in Peru and Latin America.

In June, Minga hosted the UNICEF 2023 Annual Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean, where 35 specialists in the fields of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) came together to share, learn from our communities, and strengthen their practices in all of Latin America.

“When we were at the SBCC Summit in Morocco, we listened to Eliana and about Minga’s programs. Listening to her confirmed that our SBC approach does work, it has a real impact on people…So I asked myself: what if we were to learn in the heart of the Amazon? That’s how we ended up here.”

In October, Minga facilitated a session on Social and Behavior Change Communication Approaches at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of their Masters of Public Health program. Students discussed Minga’s uniquely impactful design and implementation of intercultural communication for social change strategies in the

“What I learned from Minga is different from what I learned in the past…The exchange of information is important because it creates global solidarity as it demonstrates social issues faced by one country can resonate with another country. We are able to feed each other’s successful experiences. We are able to share strategies that have worked in our country.”

Also in 2023, Minga presented at the Harvard Alumni Women’s Empowerment Expo, a worldwide event with a focus on Global Leadership, Women’s Voice, and Healthy & Sustainable Communities.

Our focus is fiercely local. It’s also joyfully—and increasingly—global.

Your support helps us deepen our impact in the Amazon, and strengthen, support, and learn from others who want to build a more just and sustainable world for all.
